Our #1 Choice - Earth4Energy |
The first of the energy plan kits to hit the market, Earth 4 Energy provides a tried and true solution to generating power at home. The plans have been very well tested and refined to provide a remarkably good product for the homeowner that wants to build windmills or solar panels in order to lower or eliminate their electric bills.
Of all the different solar and wind power plans on the market, this one is the best. It was the first one on the market, and has had the most polishing and refinement. Since the publisher continuously updates this product, there’s no reason to believe that it won’t stay at the #1 position for a long time to come. It truly is a great product that’s been our top choice for quite some time.
Our Overall Rating = 5/5

Our #2 Choice - Home Made Power Plant |

Even though it’s a relative newcomer to the DIY home power plan market, Home Made Power Plant is an excellent product. Our only negative regarding this product is that it’s very new on the market. That’s not to say that the information isn’t as good as the other guides, it’s just that it hasn’t had a chance to completely prove itself.
This guide does have some excellent drawings and diagrams that easily lead you through the building process. Like our first choice, this plan is basically foolproof.
As a bonus, this product some extras that are a great fit with the alternative energy theme. Not only that, you are guaranteed updates for the next 10 years:
Biodiesel- An alternative solution for your car and home - $37 dollar value |
|
Best Tricks & Tips To Save Energy - $27 value |
|
Free Updates For The Next 10 Years - $300 value |
Overall, we really like this guide. It’s got some great drawings and very concise instructions. Even though there isn’t much difference in the information that’s presented versus our first choice, the way it’s presented may influence your decision. We do feel though that due to the fact that it’s a relative youngster on the market, it warrants our second place rating.
Our Overall Rating = 4.5/5

If you’ve been looking for ways to reduce your energy bills you’ve probably been thinking about using some type of alternative power. And if you’ve done any research at all, you know that solar and wind power are perfect for this!
Since the average American household uses 11,040 kWh per year, it’s easy to see that the potential savings from generating electricity via alternative sources can be substantial. But if you’ve also researched the costs of buying commercially available wind turbines or solar panels, you know that living off the grid isn’t cheap. Even though demand for these types of power generators is increasing, the prices haven’t come down out of the stratosphere and into the realm of affordability. And in most cases, commercially available products aren’t even cost effective yet. While this is disheartening, it’s not reason to give up on alternative energy. It’s quite possible to BUILD YOUR OWN reliable, effective, and low cost solar panels and wind turbines. Using plans that are available, you can easily generate power for less than $200, and in some cases even less than that. These plans are simple to complete - they’re geared towards the average do it yourself homeowner. You don’t need to be a master mechanic or engineer, almost anyone can build them from readily obtainable parts using common tools. And the best part is that you’ll know exactly how your power system works when you’re done. If you ever need to perform any maintenance, it will be a snap.
In our quest to cut costs at our home, we started looking for plans in order to build our first windmill. We found several different plan packages, and were somewhat overwhelmed as to which one should we use. So after lots of research, reading, and asking a lot of questions we put together this review page based on our findings and experiences with each of these products. One thing worth noting is that all of these plans are good, and will adequately provide all the necessary diagrams, parts lists, and instructions that are necessary to build a fully functional windmill or solar cell/solar panel. Rest assured that no matter which one you choose, you’ll have no problem with any of them. That said, some of them are inherently better than the others for various reasons that are worth considering.
